In the province of Burgenland, the software roll-out of the Fabasoft eGov-Suite started in March 2023. Burgenland, like seven other Austrian provinces, is relying on Fabasoft to digitize its public administration.
The province of Burgenland opted for a roll-out in stages. Fabasoft is gradually putting the district administrations and the offices of the Burgenland provincial administration into productive operation and supporting them with an extensive range of training courses.
This iterative roll-out approach makes it easier to discard familiar ways of working and promotes the rethinking of processes, because the project team takes into account experience gained directly in the next roll-out stage. In this way, operational processes, support and on-site assistance are optimally integrated.
Interactive training ensures high quality of support
A major training offensive accompanies the implementation. In November 2022, Fabasoft conducted a test training with a selected group of people from the state administration. The feedback on this trial run was positive:
"We are very satisfied with the training sessions! I am pleased to see how quickly our employees are working productively with the eGov-Suite. Above all, the comprehensible practical examples enable us to familiarize ourselves with the software very quickly." - Dr. Nicolas Knotzer, Digitization Officer of the Province of Burgenland.
Training sessions in the individual administrative units began in early 2023. These take place in two stages: First, Fabasoft trains the service managers and department administrators who provide first- and second-level support on site. Since March 2023, this has been followed by users who work with the Fabasoft eGov-Suite on a daily basis. The training courses for service managers last a total of six days, those for service administrators four days and the remote end-user training courses two days. This training concept ensures a very high quality of support in the individual organizational units.
"Our interactive online training courses have one major advantage: participation is possible from anywhere. In this way, state employees take advantage of digital file management in advance – nowadays, this also includes location-independent and flexible working." - Michael Hettlinger, BSc (WU), project manager at Fabasoft.
After the two-day online training, the participants immediately use the eGov-Suite actively in their everyday work. Thus, the digital transformation of the Burgenland provincial administration has officially begun.
