NEM Energy B.V. relies on Fabasoft Approve to manage technical documents along the supply chain

Released on 04. July 2024

Data migration and project implementation within three months

NEM Energy B.V. [NEM], the leading international original equipment manufacturer for heat transfer technologies and exhaust systems, relies on the technical data and document management of Fabasoft Approve and replaces their existing Siemens Plant PDM tool. Due to the spin-off of the company from the Siemens Energy Group, the software for handling approval processes with suppliers, customers and internal departments had to be replaced in the shortest possible time.

“The time schedule for the changeover was extremely tight. Together with Fabasoft Approve, we succeeded in initially introducing a cloud-based software within three months, which we can now use to quickly and easily exchange important project documents with our suppliers. We work very closely with Fabasoft Approve's Professional Services Team to continuously develop our processes,” says Arjen Ruis, Project Manager and Digital Excellence Solution Specialist at NEM.

A shared view for NEM and its suppliers

The entire workflow, from the procurement of project-specific documents from suppliers via the internal handling of the review and approval processes is completely digital with Approve on Fabasoft PROCECO. The next step is to integrate customers like Siemens Energy into the transmittal process. Siemens Energy is successfully using Approve for several years to handle formal business correspondence in their large-scale projects. This software improves transparency and facilitates collaboration across company boundaries.

The company exchanges up to 50,000 documents per project with suppliers, manufacturers, 3rd party engineering and customers during the average two-and-a-half-year runtime of a project. Approve is now used by more than 250 users from project management, purchasing, engineering and quality control as well as all of NEM's suppliers.

Fully automated processes

“Approve aims to relieve users of repetitive manual work in order to increase efficiency and minimize sources of error. This means: not a single email needs to be typed by hand – all processes are fully automated,” explains Andreas Dangl, Managing Director of Fabasoft Approve GmbH.

For example, the system automatically adapts the names of the documents provided by suppliers to NEM's naming scheme. Each document is assigned to a smart metadata model and enriched with additional information such as PBS code, document type, VDRS number, etc. In the After Sales, warranty and service projects are also processed via Approve to provide spare parts documentation or engineering for small modifications.
